Painting
Andy Watson first started drawing in English class at Fairfield high school in the early 60’s, for no credit. There were no formal art classes offered at that time. In 1966 he attended the University of Montana and enrolled in a beginning art class, the first day of class he was asked by his teacher Walter Hook to join his advanced drawing class. While at the U of M he also studied watercolor with James Dew. Andy then went on to get his bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Brigham Young University and his Masters Degree in Fine Arts from Utah State University. He has been drawing and doing watercolor paintings since that time. He uses the world around him as inspiration, carrying a camera every where he goes, taking pictures of scenes he will later use as ideas for his paintings.
