Andy and Marie Watson
Master Potter, Andy Watson, MFA Ceramics/porcelain (Utah State University) is one of the most well-renowned potters in the United States. His work has been featured in the IMAX film "Treasure of the Gods" shown at the entrance to Zion's National Park, the TV series Touched by an Angel, in permanent displays at American historical sites in Nauvoo, IL, Kirtland, OH, and Cove Fort, UT. Additionally, his pots are featured in the paintings of Liz Lemon Swindle. Throughout his career as a potter, Andy has mastered throwing vessels--often digging his own clay, mixing his own glazes from natural sources, and masterfully decorating the objects he throws in his Montana studio.
Not only is Andy a master potter, but he is an expert painter, often creating stunning watercolors and panoramas on the facade of pots he throws - adding another artistic dimension to his pottery. Each vessel created by Andy is handcrafted and glazed with individualized care and attention - marked with excellence and guaranteed by his signature under the base of each work.
Marie Watson has been making pottery for the last 4 years. She was first inspired to take a pottery class after watching a demonstration on Raku firing on a television show. Her first class was through a community education class, she instantly fell in love with throwing on the wheel and bought her first wheel after the class ended. During the summer she asked the local ceramics shop where she could get her pots high fired and they suggested she take them to Andy Watson. He offered to give her classes and her skill greatly improved and a friendship between them began, 3 1/2 years later they were married. She now lives with her husband Andy in Montana where they make and sell pots together.
